Meikles Hotel remains a beautiful and iconic spot in Harare. I had a meeting in the lobby and enjoyed the “concoction” drink - so refreshing and healthy! The service was excellent, and the overall vibe was warm and welcoming. Still a favorite! Part 2: Meikles Hotel has always been a place I associated with business meetings, so it was a joy to finally enjoy it in a more personal way. My family and my brother’s family had dinner together, and it was a lovely experience from start to finish. We appreciated the complimentary dinner parking, and the warm welcome at both the reception and restaurant set the tone. We were seated at a great table that fit everyone comfortably. I enjoyed delicious lamb chops and fries, and had a taste of the catch of the day - both well-prepared. The live music added to the atmosphere, though the instruments were a bit too loud for easy conversation. That said, the prices were very reasonable, and the wine selection was enjoyable.
I visited the Spa during mother's day and had a beautiful experience so I thought I would try it again for my birthday on the 4th of June. The therapist was great. But there was a lady I was told is the manager.because I mentioned to the cashier it was my birthday and was there anything complementary or a little discount offered for that and she said she would ask the lady. Once I was done the manageress was in the front and the cashier was dismissing me without mentioning my request so I decided to ask her myself. The attitude I got in the response OMW I would have never expected in such an establishment. It's ok she told me no but it was in the way she said. She could have politely told me no but this woman went on her spa not being in that position yet and how her business was not at that size yet and it was still growing which is fine but it was the way she said it. That woman really needs serious training in customer care if she is to manage and grow that business.
I recently had the fortune of dining here but this five-star hotel restaurant - The Kitchen failed to meet our expectations. The restaurant was hosting a special function, which seemed to monopolize the staff's attention. As a result, other guests, like myself, were neglected. It took an hour and half to be served soup for starters which was served cold and not edible at all. We returned the soup. We returned the cocktails as well as there was something very wrong with the way they were prepared. The service was very slow, and it took an inordinate amount of time to receive the rest of our orders. The food, unfortunately, was also subpar. The fish was undercooked, while other dishes, specifically the steaks, were overcooked. Given the hotel's five-star status, the kitchen's performance was disappointing. The lack of attention to detail and poor service left a sour taste. To improve, the restaurant should focus on balancing attention between special events and regular guests, enhance kitchen consistency, and prioritize timely service.
