I cannot say enough nice things about the staff here. I stayed here over the weekend with my 3 month old son while my husband was in a wedding. Everyday someone was there to greet us or offer me help while juggling all the things. They also accommodated any request I had. The room with the 2 queen beds was a little small with a stroller in the room, but otherwise we enjoyed it and would stay here again!
★☆☆☆☆ Absolutely Not Worth the Price — Save Your Money When we first arrived at the InterContinental Saint Paul Riverfront, we were impressed. The lobby is beautiful, and the bellhop and valet teams were absolutely incredible—polite, helpful, and professional. Unfortunately, everything went downhill the moment we checked in. We paid over $500 a night for what turned out to be a tiny, closet-sized room. I had reserved a king bed, but we were given two queens. When I asked about it, I was told we selected a “classic room” and that means they can give us whatever configuration they have available. That is incredibly misleading, especially when booking through a site like Booking.com where I clearly selected a king. (Mind you we booked in January and was not last minute) My husband is tall and does not comfortably fit in a queen bed — this was not just a preference, it was a necessity. The condition of the room was even worse. The ceiling was visibly falling apart near the windows, which also had no emergency escape handles — a major safety concern. The vent was caked in dark debris (mold? dust? no clue, but it was disgusting). The room smelled musty and stale and was covered in dust. To make matters worse, the door to the adjoining room had a large gap underneath—you could see right through. It felt completely unsafe. The mattresses were old, lumpy, and uncomfortable. Our “river view” was barely visible through the filthy windows. The mini fridge didn’t work, there was no microwave, and the TV was laughably small for a so-called luxury hotel. To top it off, you’re forced to valet park, which costs an extra $45/day, and there are no included amenities to make up for the outrageous price. We spoke with the front desk multiple times before ultimately deciding to leave after just 10 minutes. The only redeeming part of our stay was the kind man who helped with our luggage and the wonderful valet staff — they deserve five stars. The hotel, however, absolutely does not. There is no reason to stay here at these prices. Spend your money elsewhere.
For the price point, this is far too dated and stale. The rooms are damp, dark, and tiny. The beds are fine and linens are clean, but that’s about the only good thing. The shower water pressure is laughable and the smoke detectors go off if you steam up the bathroom too much. My room had stains and coffee splashes from the last person, my duvet top sheet was ripped, and the towel bar was hanging off the wall. The bumper in the elevator had fallen off by my third day there. I had to ask three separate times to get my room deep cleaned before they spotted the coffee spills. Sure, there is quite a bit walkable in the city, but you’d be better off staying at the double tree a block away. At least I can expense this disastrous stay.
