This resort provides all the necessary amenities and simple furnishing in the guest rooms. The design and furnishing wasn’t top notched and old but they provided the best lounge wear/ pajamas ever. The service was courteous, quick, and professional when you could find the staff as workforce is limited in the rural area. We didn’t find it troublesome cuz most meals are set menu and most things were setup to be self service. Good food with nice presentation. The dining room has beautiful winter view of the outdoors. Free tea and coffee all day. Automated wine dispenser using card. One can sneak to do some work in the lobby with all self service perks. The onsen was nice with multiple pools of different temperature and I appreciated the icy cold pool. The onsen amenities were very good and complete. I enjoyed my stay.

An amazing place! The hotel is beautiful, the meals are from another planet, the onsen is wonderful, absolutely like nothing else I've ever tried! I've given the location 1 star, not because the place is bad because the environment and nature are truly breathtaking, but because the place is really impossible to reach. There are barely any trains or buses that reach the hotel, if you want to go for just 1 day I would definitely advise against it.

This is a very terrible hotel , the worst I have ever stayed in Japan. It was exactly like the other reviews that I just read: They renovated the lobby but left the rooms so dated and unkempt. Insects were found in the ceiling light, one of them was literally crawling in it as I type this review (no kidding, see photos attached), the basin was broken and patched (another photo) and the curtain drape was super dirty it’s awful. The samue clothing in the hotel room was also torn and tattered. The room 201 was located just next to the dining room where you can hear all the footsteps of customers making their way in and out. What’s worse is that just outside the window of the room is an exhaust pipe constantly emitting fumes that engulfed not just into the room but also the whole 2nd floor. When we requested for a change of room, we were told that this is simply impossible unless we pay JPY10K for an upgrade, not to mention that we were already paying JPY 46k for the stay. This is nothing less than daylight robbery. Will never stay again at Kamenoi hotels or MyStays hotel group. Kusatsu Onsen hotel and resort which we also stayed during this same trip was also extremely dated and in disrepair. It appears that this whole hotel group has little or no regard for their customers’ comfort.
