Stellar service. Sweet welcome gifts for the kids, Natalia gave us a thoughtful tour of the property. Our waitstaff Antonio and Laszlo were so friendly, attentive and kind. There is so much to do we already are booking a trip back. You do need to reserve many activities, but we never encountered something to be full, and it’s not an inconvenience to ensure the staff doesn’t waste time on an activity if no one is coming. We used bike rentals everyday, and made best friends with Edefix the pony. The childcare staff had great energy and we thought our 5 and 7 yr. Old would think it too “young” for them while we visited the gym, but they didn’t want to leave when we picked them up. The food was excellent, very fresh every day and high quality. Great protein options for each meal. One of our kids favorite things was the “barefoot” sensory walk behind the go-kart track. Upon parting the kids (and adults) got more gifts, and a lovely snack box for the kids on the drive away. The room had spa robes and slides waiting for us, and the beach bag provided was quite useful. Thank you for such a thoughtful and truly carefree stay!

We just visited Familienresort Buchau at the end of January and it was an incredible experience! We arrived a bit earlier than expected and even though check-in officially starts at 15:00, the staff warmly welcomed us, offered us a room right away, gave us a hotel tour and even invited us to enjoy the lunch buffet - a great first impression. Our lake view room was stunning, with breathtaking views of Achensee. The resort offers endless activities for kids and adults, from pony rides (included in the stay) to a fantastic indoor water park and play areas. The all-inclusive package is truly outstanding - not only does it include food (which feels like it never stops!), but also drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. The location is perfect, with ski resorts and sledging areas nearby, making it ideal for winter fun. Plus, there's an e-charging station right next to the hotel, which is super convenient. One of the sweetest touches was that kids receive two presents - one upon arrival and another at check-out. Such a thoughtful gesture! The only minor downside for us was that our room was in a separate building, meaning we had to dress up every time we went to the main building since nothing was available in ours. If it were just us adults, it wouldn’t have been an issue, but with a 2-year-old, it was a bit inconvenient. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and can’t wait to come back - maybe next time in summer to enjoy all the outdoor activities as well!

We had a wonderful vacation at Hotel Buchau, staying as two families of five each in ground-level suites. The overall experience was very positive. Highlights: • Food: The food was excellent — fresh, varied, and available throughout the day. Definitely one of the highlights of the stay. • Facilities: The hotel offers fantastic facilities for both kids and adults. Everything is well-maintained, clean, and thoughtfully designed for families. • Suites: The ground-floor suites were spacious and comfortable, perfect for a large family. What Could Be Better: • Food Self Service Layout: While the staff was polite, the service experience could be improved. You often need to go back and forth quite a bit, and some service points are located far from the kitchen, which can be very very inconvenient. • Booking Flexibility: One major downside is that the hotel operates on a non-refundable policy. This caused a real challenge for us when we needed to reschedule our booking. • Communication: Communication with the hotel was difficult, both before and during our stay. We struggled to get timely responses via email or phone, especially when trying to change rooms or modify our reservation. The language barrier may have played a role, but overall the process felt unnecessarily frustrating. Despite these issues, Hotel Buchau is a very good option for families looking for a fun and relaxing vacation in Austria. If communication and booking flexibility were improved, it would be close to perfect.
