Konokono Beach Resort and Isaraya Over Water Villa

You just have to see it to believe it. This place is one of Zanzibar's and possibly the world's most beautiful off the beaten path resorts you'll ever have the privilege of experiencing in a lifetime. From the staff, to the food, to the views this place is SECOND, to none. I'd suggest either the Sea View villas or the over the water villas. Both are at a premium, but your experience in them will justify any market price required to secure them. Over water villas have their own over the water restaurant, 24/7 concierge service including food, with the option of using the main restaurant. The Maasai tribe provided 24/7 security in traditional wear and are some of the most nicest folks I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. If you're looking for a quiet, peaceful vacation with all of the amenities, Konokono is where it is.

Too remote if you're not mobile. Rooms and resort are super! Good service But: prices are European level, local beer 8 USD, food (great though) also arround 20-25 USD So, I'd you're on half board or breakfast only and no car: calculate 100/d on top

Beautiful room - terrible service. Don't go. We stayed for a couple night post our wedding and regret. It's overpriced for the service, food and even the water (not easily swimable from the villa). We arrived - made to wait for others (strangers) to check in so we could go to the villas at the same time. Food was flavourless. We ordered room service - after 1.5 hours we called to find out where it was they said they forgot to give our villa number so food was just sitting there and they didn't know where to deliver it. Breakfast service was sooo slow, coffee came after you had already eaten. Room was not cleaned properly - we had used the bath but it wasn't cleaned after to use it again. Their offer of compensation was a couple of free drinks... Terrible. Way overpriced for the island and so many more beautiful places to stay that are less pricey with 100x better service. Avoid.
