Krystal Grand Suites Insurgentes

I stayed at Krystal Grand Suites Insurgentes for three nights on a business trip. The service was excellent, the location was convenient, and the rooms were extremely comfortable. I also had the chance to try the on-site dining, and the food exceeded expectations. Highly recommended for both comfort and convenience.

I had the suite on the top floor (12th floor). The rooms are pretty nice and modern. Maintenance could be better. Housekeeping is hot or miss. I stayed there for a week so I did housekeeping twice and tipped the same amount both times. The first time was awesome. The second time the person barely did anything. The sound proof rooms were great and if you been to Mexico City you know how much that is appreciated. The place is a bit far away from the action so you need to pay Uber (200 pesos) each way to get to places. Maybe it was the lack of Spanish from me but the staff are not super friendly, and cleaning seems to be a hit or miss.

I chose this hotel for a business trip based on location close to my office. I stayed in another 4* hotel in Mexico City before and this experience in Krystal hotel was far from that. The room was nice, but no mini bar, cleaning of the room happened at 7pm on the first day when I already came back from the office and on the second day I had to call reception since the room again was not cleaned and there was even no water around 6 PM. It took then over an hour to send someone. Upon arrival I did not find the receptionists very welcoming, they would not even mention any hotel facilities, wifi, breakfast which I paid, they were really not welcoming. Breakfast included in the package was ridiculous, for this cost, if not a buffet, you would expect at least some options for breakfast, not just coffee, juice, fruits and eggs. I had better breakfasts in cheap hostels in Philippines. I even skipped it some days since they took insanely long, they seemed rude and not caring and the result was not worth it. Will survive 2 more days here but never again. *Update 15/5: After writing this review I got great experience on the day after at breakfast and room was cleaned for the first time in the morning, the manager came to apologize. Too bad this is not a standard as it should be. I was offered free late check out as a compensation at 3pm, too bad that after I asked reception the day of my departure they told me that they need the room sooner and what was agreed and confirmed twice about my late check out was suddenly not possible and I had to wait for my prebooked taxi in the lobby for an hour instead of working comfortably from my room. I wonder how would I find out about having to leave the room sooner unless I went to double check for the 3rd time again on the day of departure after having that confirmed days before. Yet another disappointment even though this time the receptionists were very kind.
