A nice hotel tk stay over a night when you visit Beppu. Since Beppu is famous for its onsen (hot springs), don't miss a chance to soak youself in an onsen here. Don't worry, it's not a mixed bath.

Kurodaya onsen hotel in Beppu offers a glimpse into the past, but unfortunately, it seems stuck there. The facilities are old and poorly maintained. The carpets are worn out, with visible stains, and the balcony's rusty railings feel unsafe. The onsen, while functional, raises concerns about hygiene due to its aged appearance. Staffing seems minimal, leading to a lack of attention to detail in overall upkeep. Despite these drawbacks, the bento dinner was a pleasant surprise. The portions were generous and the flavors satisfying, offering a silver lining to the stay. This hotel has the potential to shine with proper maintenance and care, but in its current state, it leaves much to be desired. A thorough renovation and better staffing would do wonders.

Just went for a massage. A bit bare bones but the massur sure knew what he was doing and the price was reasonable. The hotel staff speaks no English so make an appointment using a tourist center or the place you are staying.
