Paul, our guide was amazing. This was a night walk through the forest. We saw many critters pointed out by our wonderfully knowledgeable guide. It was creepy in a good and exciting way. We also got to enjoy seeing a kinkajou and other animals scheduled for release in the forest from the Jaguar Rescue Center. I recommend wearing long sleeves and pants. Boots and lights are supplied.
Didn't stay here, but took both a morning and night tour through the forest. La Ceiba is a release point for animals taken in by the Jaguar Rescue Center up the road, and it's gorgeous jungle. Be prepared to put on rubber boots and explore muddy humid jungle, and be rewarded by seeing parrots, toucans and hawks, sloths, frogs, snakes, and plenty more. Each tour is catered to your group and the guides are a literal gold mine of knowledge.
Went here for a night walk with Dexter from the Jaguar Rescue Center. He pointed out all kinds of amazing creatures to us including a fer de lance snake, 3 toed sloth, many frogs, lizards, and even a sleeping hummingbird! This was an amazing tour and one of our favorites on our entire vacation. Dexter was very knowledgeable and we even stopped and turned off our lights to enjoy a few minutes of the sounds of the rain starting to fall paired with all the animal noises from the forest. It was a magical experience!
