Laico Hammamet

It's been five years since our last seven-night stay with my wife as a newlywed couple. Our next trip will be with our little prince, and we truly hope the experience is wonderful. This hotel is one of the most beautiful, especially the rooms and the menu. The massage center is professional. Thank you in advance, because we simply expect the best from you. Laico Hammamet probably saw its glory days back when French troops were stationed here. The entire place is rundown and neglected. Rooms are tired and worn out – peeling walls, old furniture, and air conditioning barely functioning. Even changing rooms doesn’t help – the “new” one was just as bad. The restaurant is an absolute disaster. When the hotel is full, the staff simply can’t cope. Long queues, food choices worse than in a 1980s canteen, and sometimes they even run out of plates. No utensils to serve food either, which only makes the chaos worse. Tunisia is famous for its seafood – but you won’t find any of that here. In Laico Hammamet, seafood exists only in the brochures. As for fruit: you’ll mostly see watermelons, the occasional sad apple, and a few unripe plums. That’s it. Don’t expect variety or quality. Bar staff were friendly, but the drinks were extremely weak – more like colorful juice than cocktails. And beware of surprises: I was casually encouraged to try a shisha by a staff member. No mention of a charge, and only after it was lit and I’d taken a few puffs did they bring me a bill. Classy move. If you’re looking to waste your money and ruin your holiday, this is the perfect place. The hotel is poorly managed, the facilities are outdated, and although some of the staff try their best, it’s just not enough to save this sinking ship. The 4- and 5-star reviews must be paid for – I honestly can’t imagine anyone giving this place more than 1 star voluntarily. Too bad Google doesn’t allow zero stars, because this hotel doesn’t even deserve one. Avoid at all costs.

I’m currently staying here. This hotel is not a 5-star experience as it seems. From the moment I arrived, it was clear that this place is severely lacking in basic cleanliness and maintenance. The toilets weren't flushed properly, and the sink was blocked. The toiletries were thrown on the work top and showers not cleaned. The bedsheets were ripped and not even put on correctly, with throw overs and pillows thrown to the side. My hard-working money gone to waste due to many issues. The room's fridge didn’t work, and it was empty—no drinks or snacks stocked at all. The TV isn't a smart TV, and the remote doesn’t work properly. I went to reception multiple times to sort these issues out, but despite their promises to send someone immediately, no one ever came. Had to get the key-card fixed multiple times a day. They weren't even stocking up towels. The cleaner, Hanan, was incredibly rude and gave dirty looks. The AC is leaking, the floor is dusty, and the room is not cleaned properly at all. The cleaners just barge into the room without knocking. My friend is a hijabi and one of the men cleaners came in without knocking before she even had the chance to put her hijab on, he did not care at all! The receptionists and cleaners have terrible attitudes and mutter things under their breath in their own language. Lights in the room are not working properly either. This hotel, booked through Love Holiday, was a massive disappointment and ruined my vacation. Stay away.
