Our experience with this hotel excited our expectations and the expectations based off of previous reviews. This is not a normal hotel but more of a "bed and breakfast feel". The rooms were clean as well as the bathrooms (NO "blood" or "stains" on towels). Lots of character and charm as well as great location in St. Helena close to a great amount of wineries and shops. The price you a paying for is location. We would have given this hotel really a 4 star rating but so many other ratings were so unnecessarily negative for this hotel, that we wanted to even the rating out.

The rooms were not clean. The room I had booked for my friend experienced a severe plumbing/sewage issue. No one answered the emergency line. To ad insult to injury, I had dropped my wallet on Saturday and noticed it within hours. (I had checked it Friday afternoon). I went to the lobby several times to see if anyone had returned it. It out another guest at the hotel did ask them if I was registered and they were told "no". They made every attempt to contact me and sent an email to a company I was affiliated with. I found out Monday too late to avoid the 3 hour delay at the airport and missing my flight. The location was the only thing good about this place.
