Maldron Hotel Shandon Cork City

We had a pleasant and comfortable stay at this hotel in Cork. Its central location made exploring the city easy, and the price was very reasonable. The May weather in Ireland was mild—not too hot or cold—but we did appreciate having a fan in the room, as there was no air conditioning or fridge. Initially, we were given a room overlooking the cemetery, but thankfully the staff quickly relocated us to a more suitable space. Breakfast was a highlight: a delicious spread with something to suit every palate. The team was consistently polite and attentive, adding to the overall positive experience. One detail that puzzled me was the placement of the TV—it was directly in front of the mirror, making it oddly inconvenient. Also, there were no electrical outlets in the bathroom for using a hairdryer, which felt like a surprising oversight.

The hotel was lovely and well kept, rooms a bit small if you're a family but nice. Staff are so amazing here especially one of the waiters Vivienne, she was so happy and helpful and my son loved her bubbly attitude, especially when she told him there was pancakes. Also Aaron in the bar he was also so nice and helpful. The location was perfect so close to everything. We will return.

No Air conditioning, which wouldn’t have been a problem since there were two windows in the room, but the spotlights that turned on at 9pm and shine directly into the room make keeping the blinds open impossible. No water pressure in the shower unless you want a freezing cold shower. Beds were hard as the floor. Breakfast was mediocre. Only positive was the staff was friendly and helpful.
