Marea La Paz

Peaceful Location, Kind Staff – But Overpriced and Not Allergy-Friendly Marea La Paz is in a quiet, peaceful area right by the beach — a great spot if you’re looking to disconnect and relax. The calm surroundings were definitely a highlight of our stay. However, there were a few key disappointments. Breakfast was advertised as an extra paid option, but it turned out to be a very basic continental selection. As someone with food sensitivities (gluten and dairy), there were virtually no suitable options. The offering consisted mostly of sugary pastries (not gluten-free), yogurt, orange juice, water, and some fruit — hardly worth the significant additional cost. Another issue was the noise at night. Behind the hotel rooms was a lot that looked like a junkyard, guarded by several dogs. Unfortunately, the dogs barked nonstop throughout the night, making it difficult to get any quality sleep. While the hotel is aesthetically pleasant and in a great location, it feels overpriced for what is actually provided. That said, the staff was genuinely kind, attentive, and helpful, which made our stay more comfortable despite the inconveniences. The human touch really stood out.

What a disappointment! Let's just say that when a hotel has a policy of keeping your money if you check out early, it is not the first time it has happened! Don't be fooled by what the website shows for the location, it is a nestled beside a junkyard in an abandoned cement factory with rusted out stairs. What I thought would be a Charming downtown area with restaurants was actually a very scary neighborhood. My family did not feel safe. I paid an extra $500 just to leave, and never heard back from the manager! Amended after hearing from the manager - thank you for refunding both nights of our stay instead of one!

This place blocks the public beach and makes life difficult for the local fisherman, do not support them.
