A great spot if you're attending any conferences at the McCormick Place. I found my room to be space and the bathroom well laid out - efficient but not crowded. I had a lakeside view room on the very corner of the building, so I had windows on two sides of the room, which I thought was lovely. The hotel is located a short walk away from the train, so it was easy to go explore a little bit. Getting rideshares was easy and quick as well.
Classic conference center hotel, very big and full of meeting rooms, directly connected to the convention. Rooms are fine, food and the lounge were not the best. Some people working there are nice, others can be quite rude as the guy that checked me in, was mainly singing to the music instead of listening to me, and when I asked for an upgrade (I have a platinum card) he answers something like “you are already have a room with city view at an high floor”. He was in general rude and non chalant, so I just preferred going as I was very tired for my trip. So I guess a decent place if you stay at the conference otherwise I do not see the reason to stay there.
After spending over 15+ hours in the emergency room due to a pregnancy loss, I finally arrived at the Marriott in Chicago hoping to find rest and some measure of comfort. I had informed the staff that I had just come from the ER following a very difficult and traumatic experience (without going into personal medical details), and asked if it would be possible to shorten my stay by one night without being charged. The night I was trying to cancel was two days away, so I had hoped for some understanding. Instead, I was met with a shocking lack of empathy from the front desk staff, three different representatives in total. Even after providing a medical note recommending I be accompanied, one of them coldly said, “If it’s an emergency, why aren’t you checking out now?” The answer was simple: the ER physician advised that I rest and monitor symptoms over the next few days, and my regular physician wouldn’t be available until Monday. I also felt obligated to try and make use of the opportunity my employer had already invested in, my conference registration and travel were already paid for. Despite multiple requests for support, it wasn’t until I had already changed my flight home that a manager named Nick reached out and approved the request. Unfortunately, by then it was too late. This experience added a layer of unnecessary stress and heartbreak to an already devastating situation. The lack of compassion from the staff was deeply disappointing. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, especially those traveling under vulnerable or difficult circumstances. I truly hope no one else has to endure what I went through.
