Matemwe Retreat All Inclusive

Incredible experience, absolutely cannot recommend this place enough. We were fortunate enough to spend 5 nights in paradise at the care of Thadeo, Sauti (Voice) and the numerous other friendly staff that we encountered. If you're thinking about coming here please do so, do not hesitate. Friendly tip, pay the extra cost and fly directly into Zanzibar. We took a flight into Dar es Salaam first and took the water ferry to get there, save yourself time and a potential headache by not doing this. All in all, this is a once in a lifetime experience and we're extremely grateful for the entirety of the trip there.

Really nice place. Asilia has landed a good one. The villa with rooftop plunge pool is special. Not sure if it's worth the upcharge, but not looking back. We were impressed with our liaison Ndaki. Food was good, not memorable. Compared to other safari Asilias, it missed the mark. But that was a pretty high mark.

Everything was great, but you can’t sleep at night. They’ve got baby bush animal (kind of monkeys family) living in the trees that the have implanted and replanted within the retreat & lodge; where baby bush is actively noisy during the night. For every night we woke up twice or three times from the noise, not to mention when theses baby bushes come in to the porch and break and play with utensils, plate, glasses. I don’t want to pay that amount for the view, the great service, good hospitality if I can’t sleep at night.
