Mercure Hotel & Spa Aix les Bains Domaine Marlioz

First a surprise, there is no bidet in the bathroom.... A hotel in an excellent location. Plenty of free parking. Pleasant lobby and good sized room. Heated and indoor pool in the spa. Very good breakfast. A little crowded restaurant. Dinner at the hotel restaurant is very tasty. small portions. Nice, professional and pleasant staff. English is not their strong point. It is not clear to me how in a hotel of this level, a person works at the reception of the hotel, who does not know a word of English. Also not clear how they charge €2.5 for using a bathrobe in the spa. A very recommended hotel.

The hotel was not at a level am I used to from a Mercure hotel. The one in Troyes was much better. Bathrobe and amenities were missing from the room. No towels at the pool. Staff was not super friendly when I asked for one. There was no personnel at the breakfast (I went at 7h45 AM). Tables were dirty. No glasses and no cups for tea. There was no cheese left in the buffet and almost no fruit.

The hotel is within in a park like area, shared with other hotels ( Ibis .. ). Situated directly besides a motorway. It is a closed area, which means you have to use the Mercure restaurant. There, you get simple local wine for 10 Euros a small glass, rotten fish, and tomatoes, seasoned with garlic powder. Pros: Easy to access by car, easy parking, and highlight, a shower for two in the bathroom. Cons: Everything else.
