Review: Mercure Icon Singapore City Centre The Mercure Icon Singapore City Centre is a fantastic choice for travelers who want to be in the middle of all the action. Its strategic location in the heart of Chinatown is its greatest asset, offering a vibrant atmosphere and easy access to some of Singapore's most famous landmarks and dining spots. Key Highlights * Location: The hotel is incredibly well-connected, just a short 5-minute walk from two different MRT stations, making it effortless to explore the entire city. * Hotel and Amenities: This is a large, modern hotel with an impressive feel. The wonderful swimming pool and wellness deck are a major highlight, providing a beautiful area to relax. The amazing views from the rooms are also a big plus, giving guests a stunning cityscape backdrop. Points to Consider * Staff: The staff was not very friendly, which can be a noticeable drawback to the overall experience. * Cleanliness: It has been observed that the floor under the sunbathing chairs can be dirty, which detracts from the otherwise lovely pool area. In summary, while the Mercure Icon Singapore City Centre offers an unbeatable location and fantastic amenities, it's worth keeping in mind the potential for less-than-friendly service and some cleanliness issues in the pool area.
“Mecure icon Singapore “The service at the hotel was excellent. The staff were friendly, attentive, and always ready to assist with anything we needed. The cleanliness of the entire hotel was outstanding—everything was neat, well-organized, and well-maintained. The room was comfortable and quiet, with all the necessary amenities provided. I especially appreciated the attention to detail, from the fresh towels to the well-stocked toiletries. The bed was cozy and made for a restful night’s sleep. The hotel’s overall atmosphere was welcoming and relaxing. The breakfast buffet offered a great variety of delicious and fresh food. I also enjoyed the additional facilities such as the pool and gym, which were clean and easy to access. Overall, I had a very pleasant stay and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for comfort, good service, and a clean environment.
I recently stayed at this hotel for a business trip to Singapore, as it was selected by our HQ. Unfortunately, the experience did not meet my expectations for a Mercure property. The room was extremely small, and as a plus-size guest, I found it uncomfortably cramped. The bathroom, in particular, felt suffocating — almost like being squeezed into a space not designed for comfort. Breakfast was another disappointment. The selection was very limited, with no proper meat options — only processed turkey bacon and a single type of sausage. I expected more variety and quality from a Mercure buffet. The only highlight was the egg station, which offered freshly made omelettes and sunny side ups prepared to your preference. On my second day, I returned to my room at almost 5 p.m. to find it had not been cleaned, despite placing the "MAKE UP ROOM" sign. I reported this to the front desk, and while housekeeping responded promptly, it was surprising that it had been overlooked in the first place. In a way, it turned out to be a blessing — I was able to request the removal of the bed topper, which was very lumpy and uncomfortable. Overall, if I were visiting as a tourist, I would not choose this hotel. However, for a business trip where your office is within walking distance, it might be acceptable. I hope management takes this feedback as an opportunity to improve guest comfort and service quality.
