It’s nearly impossible to capture just how spectacular the property and private beach are as a resort destination. The service was perfect, and they made any effort to accommodate any little request for comfort and dining. I had the misfortune of a flat tire, and immediately Don Federico fixed it without me even asking for help. We look forward to a future return.
Just got back from Morgan's Rock. Went with 8 family members and rented 3 rooms - 1 villa and 2 bungalows. Went for spring break from the Midwest and couldn't have had a better time. I would describe Morgan's Rock as luxury camping rather than a traditional resort. The rooms are pretty much wide open with screens and large gaps in the doors, so you'll get bugs and scorpions and lizards in your room, but that's the price you pay for being so close to mother nature - I never felt uncomfortable and never saw bugs on the bed. We went in March and it was very hot. There are A LOT of stairs to get up to your room and I would highly recommend getting a room with a pool to cool off every time you take the hike up to your room. There is a bed air conditioner but it's not great - still, at night, it got cold enough that we needed covers. The beach is amazing - completely empty and filled with sea creatures. There are lots of volcanic rock areas that you can walk over and looking the wading pools and you can get pretty aggressive with the hiking and find some really amazing hidden beaches - untouched and filled with amazing shells. The food was great! Very fresh seafood and reasonably priced. There are no other food options unless you go to San Juan which is a 25 minute drive. San Juan was nice to see but really touristy. We were approached by 15 people selling stuff within 2 hours. The people working here are amazing and everyone spoke good English - or at least asked someone else if they didn't understand. I don't have a single bad thing to say about the staff! I never felt in danger or unsafe - even during the 2.5 hr ride to and from the airport. Nicaragua is very safe for American tourists. Road is pretty bumpy so if you get motion sickness you might want to take something. We will definitely go again some day and we recommend Morgan's Rock to anybody!
Nicaragua is the second-to-last country in Central America that I had yet to explore, and Morgans Rock was one of the two destinations I had meticulously researched. My goal was to escape the crowds and immerse myself in a tranquil environment, and Morgans Rock fit the bill perfectly. Choosing Morgans Rock turned out to be an exceptional decision. I arranged an airport pickup through the lodge, and Jason was there waiting for us with a warm smile. Over our stay, we had the pleasure of working with him on four occasions, and his friendly demeanor made our experience all the more enjoyable. I booked Villa #2 for my mother and me, allowing us to have our own spaces while still being close. Each villa was a mirror image of the other, featuring an outdoor deck, cozy seating, and a plunge pool. The rooms resembled studios, each with its own entry, sitting area, and a bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers. However, we encountered some issues: the locks on the villa doors were faulty, there were water leaks from the ceiling, and the thatched roofs had holes that let rain in. Despite these shortcomings, the staff's hospitality shone brightly. Bartenders Geronimo and Erlis crafted delicious drinks and provided great conversation. Jason was our reliable driver, and Henry, our knowledgeable guide, added to the experience. Grethel, our host, was incredibly welcoming. Though improvements are needed, the exceptional staff and serene environment made our time at Morgans Rock relaxing and enjoyable. I recommend this eco-lodge to anyone seeking a peaceful retreat in Nicaragua.
