Do yourself a favour and find a way to stay at Mtunzini Forest Lodge, we came from Cape Town and it totally made our Natal stay! Warm staff, free access to awesome private beach and reserve. Water slides for all ages, excellent restaurant with sushi bar, putt putt. And in charming SAFE Mtunzini which is a pretty, clean and nature filled town

My second stay here. The previous time was around 14 years ago. Beautiful location. Exploring the beach and bush is always wonderful. The water park is well maintained and clean, we had a blast there every day of our stay. Downsides are the very poor maintained braai area at the unit we occupied it's barely functional and was not clean either ( remnants of previous braai on grill). The kitchen is in desperate need of attention and revamp peeling cupboards , a stove which does not have clear indication of which dial operates which stove plate. The fridge door was difficult to open. While one does not expect luxury the basics should be right as this is not a place takeaways are easy to find. The shower was not pleasant due to mildew. The rooms were neat and the linen was clean fresh towels were supplied that was great. And the cleaning staff were very efficient with keeping the unit tidy. Overall it's a lovely spot to get away the issues are easy fixes which really should be carried out to make this a place you want to revisit.

It’s not great. The log cabins are very old and not maintained at all. The beds and pillows are horrible. The couches are uncomfortable. The hot water doesn’t regulate properly. There’s things breaking or falling apart all over the cabin. The resort doesn’t offer much and there’s not much help from staff. Mtunzini is not great either. Nothing to do here. There’s a handful of restaurants that supposed to open for lunch but are closed whenever they feel like it. 1 restaurant for breakfast. It isn’t good. The Forest Lodge is always fully booked and been like that for years. I cannot see why. Unique experience but I’ll never come back. Don’t recommend unless you just want to stay in a log cabin
