A unique resort overlooking the Yoda Lake in Tissamaharama. Easy access to Yala National Park. Air conditioned, tented rooms with permanent washrooms would be a lifetime experience. Many species of endemic & migrant birds, endemic butterflies can be seen within the premises. All meals provided are organic, freshly plucked vegetables and fruits from the garden. Lovely food. Friendly staff.
This is an eco-friendly resort. The people who work here have love and have a broad knowledge of the wildlife in the area. They organize themselves boat tours, cycling and hiking tours for bird and animal watching, a different experience from the safari trip in Yala. They even have a birdwatching tower in the resort. I took the 2 hour cycling tour through the countryside. We saw several dozens of species of birds, including parrots and peacocks. At the end of the tour the guide told a surprise is waiting me. He took me to a local family in a traditional house. We were served with tea and traditional hand-made sweets. Wonderful, amazing experience, beautiful memories!
Enjoyed our stay at the Yala Adventure Camp mainly because of how nice the luxury tents were including air conditioning, generous servings of fresh and flavoursome food (some from their garden) and fishing with the locals. We saw elephants and a few other animals at Yala National Park though not all sections of the park were open so we didn’t see as many animals as we would have liked. Yala Adventure Camp itself was therefore quiet. The accommodation is not easy to find (though there are benefits being off the beaten path) so not ideal if you want to regularly go into town, particularly at night. Overall I would recommend Yala Adventure Camp to others.
