You cannot beat the price for this location! Less than 3 minutes walk to the beach! Restaurants on the water all around you, coffee shop in the same building! Loads of stores to check out! The room was clean! The sheets were clean. The bed, the linens, and the pillows were all very comfortable! The bathroom was very clean and updated and the water pressure was phenomenal! No complaints about the shower at all! The towels could be a little nicer. They felt rough on my skin and small in size. However they absorbed the water well. The air conditioner was on and the room was very cool when I walked in! (I hate walking into a rental and it being 78 degrees when it’s 90+ degrees outside!) The tv is newer. A smart tv and very easy to log into my streaming apps. There was a fridge and a microwave both worked well. Over all I’m very happy with the room. The only real complaint I have is the windows and door. The two large windows had black out shades but light came in around all four sides, i could clearly see through a 2 or 3inch gap between the window and shade, the door was glass and had a privacy film on it but barely kept any light out. There are bright lights on all night long right outside the door. I think the window and door issue could be easily remedied and should be resolved by the hotel after all the negative comments about them. The walls are also a pretty thin I could hear my neighbor snoring… The other reviews are correct about the dumpsters being emptied at 7am. However I’m an early riser so my sleep wasn’t disturbed by that. I will absolutely stay here again! Amazing location, clean rooms with comfortable beds!!!! Stay here if you’re on a tight budget!!!!
I rarely write reviews, but my recent stay at John’s Pass Hotel was so disappointing that I felt it necessary to share my experience. I travel frequently for both business and leisure, and while the property benefits from a prime location with convenient access to the boardwalk, the overall experience fell far below expectations. The hotel operates more like an Airbnb than a traditional property, with no on-site office and check-in handled entirely electronically. After booking, I did not receive my parking information until I called to request it. Parking is on the third floor of the parking ramp, with designated parking spots, close to the rooms. The guest rooms feature large windows and frosted doors with thin shades, allowing significant light and noise to filter through. In over 25 years of travel, I have never encountered a property as noisy as this one. Beginning at 6:00 a.m., garbage trucks and semi-trailers with backup alarms made restful sleep impossible. A particularly distressing incident occurred when I was abruptly awakened in the middle of the night by the fire alarm while sleeping with my service dog. Believing there was a genuine emergency, I almost called 911!! Instead, I contacted the help desk and was informed it was a false alarm caused by a faulty system. The representative explained that no maintenance staff were on-site but offered to move me to another room for the night, assuring me it would be fixed “in the morning.” I decided to sleep in a different room expecting the issue to be addressed in the morning. Unfortunately, “morning” turned out to be 10:30 a.m.—well into my workday. The alarm’s volume made staying in the room unbearable, forcing me to relocate. Packing and moving my personal and business belongings took 45 minutes, disrupting my work schedule. Between the excessive noise, safety concerns, and lack of communication, this was one of the more disappointing hotel stays I’ve experienced. I left feeling exhausted and would not book an extended stay here, this is for short term stays. On a positive note, the housekeeping staff are friendly and hardworking despite operating from a small, hot shed. (Thank you to them, this “hotel” doesn’t deserve you!!) The rooms were generally clean, and I appreciated the tall ceilings. The fridge was cold and the beds were comfortable. The rooms have a desk which is necessary for me when traveling. The air conditioners worked well, however, the toilets kept running.
*Read all the way through* Nothing fancy about the room itself. I feel like it was probably an old office space once upon a time. But, nothing wrong with that. However, the noise is on a whole different level. When I’m on vacation, the last thing I want to hear at 6:30am is garbage trucks right outside the door. I understand it’s all apart of business functionality and all, BUT, I feel like most people would probably want to know this nugget of information so that they can decide for themselves whether or not the price of the reservation is worth it. I personally would have deferred and gone elsewhere. The icing on the cake for me was we lost power at around 7:45 last night and the room got uncomfortably hot, very quickly. Just to note, no other businesses that are attached to the building and a couple of other rooms lost power…when I called management to find out what their plans were to make this right, the only response that I got was, “we cannot help an act of God.” Now I may not be the brightest crayon in the box at times, but common sense tells me that if it were an act of God, and hypothetically something like a tree limb was blown into the lines, wouldn’t everyone lose power that is coming off of the same transformer and not just a few isolated rooms? The whole response felt rehearsed like management gave the virtual desk employees a script to avoid any refunds. Rehearsed or not, the response was still unacceptable. 10 out of 10 would NOT recommend.
