What a beautiful place! I didn't want to leave. Onsen Papawaqa is beautifully situated, surrounded by mountains that provided the perfect backdrop for a relaxing and refreshing stay. The staff are friendly and accommodating, and will do their best to help you (even booking us transportation to go strawberry picking nearby!) There are many options for hot springs (public and private, naked and covered) that left me feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. Breakfast buffet (included) and dinner buffet (at additional cost) had a lot of variety and was delicious! Highly recommend!

Great view and spacious room. Beautiful onsen surrounded by the mountains. Great selection of the breakfast. We paid extra for dinner buffet which was excellent, many great food selections. We loved the different temperatures of the pool selection. Hot spring area have kids in the pool, even though they were not trying to splash water, but they created much more noise and disturbed the atmosphere, maybe for kids under 13 just limit them in the kids pool area. For the afternoon tea, I can only give 3 stars as it was so noisy, it completely ruined the afternoon tea ambiance, my husband and I couldn’t hear each other sitting across the table without yelling, and there were not many varieties of food to choose from. As far as CP value for the entire place I’d give 4 stars, for nearly USD300 a night I stayed somewhere in Japan last year where provided more higher quality stuff for guests.
