Paihia Beach Resort & Spa Hotel

We stayed in apartments 403 and 404. The location is excellent, convenient for the ferry and the beachfront restaurants. The front-line ocean view is stunning and unique. The receptionist was warm, attentive, and responsive. The elevator was old and stopped abruptly every time it reached a floor. The fourth-floor hallway was filled with the smell of the second-floor restaurant. Bring your swimsuit if you want to enjoy the open-air spa and pool. The room and bathroom amenities and decor were excellent. The view from the top floor was breathtaking.

Herman the chef makes the most delicious food. The seafood pasta was out of this world and my partner had the fillet steak. It looked absolutely delicious but he would not share it with me so I cannot comment on the steak.

Fabulous location and views. Staff are lovely and very keen to please. Rooms are quite dated and bathrooms and some furniture is in real need of refurbishing if they are going to claim they are 4 star. Beds were very comfortable and views from the top floor are stunning. Glasshouse restaurant was super average for dinner - try Terra instead if you want fine dining. Was ok for breakfast. We were surprised there were no robes in the wardrobe to wear to pool area as this is pretty standard in most hotels. Place has huge potential to be something really fantastic, but needs a bit of work to achieve that.
