Situated just across the road from the international airport, the hotel is nicely located. The food is monotonous. I have been here for 3 nights now, and the meal is the same. The hotel staff are courteous and friendly and though I don't speak French and they dont speak English, they go out of their ways to try to understand me.
Pros; - [ ] Staff are very nice and try to be helpful, though most only spoke broken English, if any at all. - [ ] The bed is comfortable - [ ] There’s hot water and good water pressure - [ ] Free shuttle to/from the airport - [ ] Pretty quiet despite being across from the airport - [ ] One of the rare hotels I’ve visited that has one of those ‘help us save water’ signs that actually follows it. They do not change towels until you put your towels on the floor. Cons: - [ ] I got food poisoning from room service - [ ] Bugs in the room and I had lots of bites on my feet/ankles and fingers - [ ] The housekeeping staff are stingy about toilet paper. I had to ask twice to get more, especially after food poisoning - [ ] Breakfast is adequate, but they only offered us omelets on one day and after we’d been there 30 min and needed to leave for our conference. Otherwise, it was just hard boiled eggs for 4/5 days. One day, no eggs. The menu was otherwise unchanging from day-to-day, with rice, plantains, cooked vegetables, and some meat dish. The rest was continental style food. - [ ] Credit card machine didn’t work on checkout; luckily we had dollars but they couldn’t make change, so we overpaid. I also had to ask twice to get my lodging receipt. - [ ] The pool area was swarming with tiny bugs and also had weird guys just hanging out, lending a creepy vibe. No other patrons using the terrace. Nobody working the supposed pool bar though it was 5pm on a Friday. - [ ] WiFi was crappy; most evenings it would work on and off all night. Impossible to stream anything, even sending an email took a few minutes. Felt like dial-up. Next visit I’ll stay at the Radisson.
It's too quiet. You basically wake up and sleep. The mattress could be better though. The music session on Fridays is something to look forward to. Their breakfast has an array of food options. Their internet isn't strong enough; in case you are here on business. The hotel is also prone to a lot of mosquitoes.
