Pelican Beach Resort South Water Caye

We went to Pelican Beach Resort on South Water Caye because we wanted a quiet, relaxing, remote vacation location where we could walk in and snorkel. It definitely provided! Along with snorkeling in the lagoon during the day and at night (guided), we went on a few short boat trips to snorkel in nearby locations, including a mangrove. We saw incredible marine life everywhere, thanks to our guide German. He was hilarious and jovial and genuinely excited to share the wonders of the ocean with us. Everyone at the resort was kind and generous and helpful. The food was lovely (thanks to the chef for making everything gluten free for me!), and anytime we wanted seconds, they brought us more. Despite the resort being quite small (as it is on a third of a very small island), there were plentiful places to relax - hammocks and comfortable chairs anywhere you’d like to stare at the ocean. It was just what we needed!

Best described as an island "lodge" in my opinion. I simply love South Water Caye and what Pelican Beach Resort is doing to provide access. Wonderfully caring staff with good food, I have been here twice in 2 years and will certainly be going back. A relaxed atmosphere, SWC is an ideal place for taking a break from the world to enjoy a time where you can go entirely barefoot. This is the place if you want to spend all day in a hammock, or in the perpetually 80 degree water. You'll feel like you have your own personal slice of heaven as even at it's busiest you'll be sharing this barrier island with only "tens" of people. I highly recommend staying in the cabins, where the sea breeze will provide all the fresh air you'll need. I've spent time here as a group of 14 and as part of two couples. Both were amazing experiences with a consistent level of care and hospitality. The staff truly cares about creating the ideal experience for their guests. The only thing I'll caution is that this place is not geared towards a hyper connected lifestyle. South Water Caye is best taken as it is: a little slice of heaven that invites you to leave the world at the dock when you leave the mainland. You'll be rewarded tenfold!

Somewhere breathtaking and relaxing on all corners of the island from sunrise to sunsets. Calm breeze and clear waters no matter what time of the day. Breakfast, lunch and dinner served everyday with fresh juices. And if you're craving something more spicy, stop at the alcohol bar and take some drinks. The rooms are well kept, comfy and clean. A place in Belize that should be on everyone's visit list and say, oh I've been there.
