A really well located hotel we arrived from the South Island and the hotel was just a 15 minute drive from the port. The hotel had valet parking which was a bit expensive but very convenient. The bedroom was comfortable and well equipped. The dining room closed at 9:30 pm but room service provided a nice dinner. The hotel has a small but pleasant swimming pool and gym. Breakfast was provided on level 3 and was satisfactory. The bar service was not very good slow and limited choice. A good stay ideal for visiting the city

Great location, great service and appreciated this on a short staffed day, fine amenities. Only issue with the room: I asked for a deluxe king with a bathtub and the TV was way too far from the bed so layout was awkward, one of the lamps did not work, TV did not have chrome cast functions which is surprising, bathroom was designed as a standard 3 star hotel bathroom - All White, no cool “qt” trademark fittings and styling, no colour, only a nice mirror. That’s it. Also lots of cracks found which need attention - see photos. Was hoping for a lavish and lux room like the beautiful ones I’ve stayed in Sydney but this room was quite sub par and not in line with the QT brand.

Frustrating, Overrated Stay Not Worth the Price We stayed at QT Wellington and unfortunately, it was a total letdown from start to finish. Check-in was chaotic. Cars were lined up down the road with no one managing the flow it took ages just to get to the front entrance. Not a great first impression. Room disappointment followed. The booking photo showed a balcony, but our room had none. Breakfast was a whole saga. We booked a package with breakfast included, but at check-in we were told it wasn’t. Then they backtracked and confirmed it was included. The next morning, when we tried to get breakfast, a staff member rudely told us we needed to “go sort it out” ourselves. That was awkward and embarrassing especially since this was clearly a communication breakdown on their end, not ours. My partner had to leave me standing there and go all the way down to reception again to sort it. Not the kind of experience you expect at a supposedly “boutique luxury” hotel. Noise levels were awful. We were kept awake by other guests playing music and arguing at ridiculous hours of the morning. Soundproofing? Pretty much non-existent. We also left our service room sign out and were gone from 9:30 AM till after 5 PM. Came back and the room still hadn’t been touched. When we asked, we were told that guests checking in had “first priority.” Really? That’s a bizarre stance to take existing guests should still receive standard service. The only positives: the breakfast menu (once we could actually access it) was good, and the bed was comfortable. And Location was good But all in all, the lack of communication, poor service, and noisy, uncomfortable experience means we definitely won’t be returning. Next time, we’ll go back to the Intercontinental far more professional and worth the price.
