As wedding photographers and filmmakers, we’re always drawn to places that feel soulful and Quinta de São Thiago is exactly that. This charming old house, tucked away in the hills of Sintra, has the kind of atmosphere you can’t fake. It’s quiet, full of character, and surrounded by lush greenery and history in every direction. You feel like you’ve stepped into another time - where everything slows down and the day unfolds in its own rhythm. We captured a wedding here and it felt like being in a movie. The intimacy of the house, the warmth of the light, the gardens that seem to go on forever - it’s poetic, elegant, and deeply personal. If you’re dreaming of a wedding in Portugal that’s romantic, authentic, and just a little magical, Quinta de São Thiago is a rare find.

Where do I start.....this place is magical....my son had his wedding here and it was pure perfection, everything was immaculate, inside and out......pool included. Other reviews state it was difficult to get there .....it's not that bad, as you get closer to the place the roads are bumpy but nothing to fear........it was an early August wedding with no mosquitos and a cool evening due to the Sintra hills (nice evening breeze).......I highly recommend Quinta Sao Thiago....... Sincerely, Mother- of -the groom

The hotel/house is actually a very old Monastery ran by one of the daughters and the family. It's very quirky inside, of Portuguese/English decent and has some very beautiful area's within. It's not your usual hotel, it has aspects that do require a little attention and look dated, but see past them and it's history and the antiques within are lovely. What makes it? The gardens, the pool and the views! Absolutely stunning and without a doubt set the few days/evenings we had there. Be warned, the drive down to the location is not for the faint hearted, it's a bumpy, steep hair pinned road/track, but you are rewarded with a lovely stay. NOTE - When going to the hotel the first time, usually the Police have the road closed. Print or show them your booking and they WILL let you through to the hotel. If so, a 10 minutes fairly easy drive, if you do not it's a 25 minutes of nightmare drive!! You have been warned and aware. Breakfast was lovely, a range of meats, Cheeses, , bread, pastries and even bacon/scrambled egg and a lovely apple tart! It's set around a very large banquet table and meeting other guests is lovely. We stayed for two nights, two adults and two children in the four bed suite (two rooms, four beds and a bathroom on the ground floor). As the place is outside Sintra and difficult to get back and forth. We used Bolt/Uber which worked well as Sintra is a nightmare to park. We also used Uber eats and the hostess let us use wine glasses, cutlery and sat outside to eat. They do not cook outside breakfast hours so be aware! They do have cold beer you can purchase. Overall, a lovely and unique place to stay. I can only post four photos, but took hundreds of the inside, gardens, the pool and view. The hostess is lovely, it's more like a b&B than a hotel, a home for them that you visit and see a piece of history! You may even find the old tennis court! (Not in use). We loved our few days. Nothing we didn't really like. Some will love it, some will not. Don't expect your normal hotel, it's not and it's fairly unique, more of a home and a look into history with stunning gardens and pool.
