We stayed at this hotel one night on our way to the Galapagos and one night on our way from the Galapagos. The hotel looks nice and elegant and is rather modern - except for the old fashioned and relatively noisy air conditioner in the room. Other than that the room is nice, spacy and you can even enjoy a view. Hotel receptionist, Susan, which we met twice, is exceptional! She goes way beyond being nice, she is knowledgeable and helpful and we hope the hotel appreciate how meaningful she is to them. For dinner we only had salads, which were great (see photos). Only it took soooo long to deliver, even though the restaurant only had us and another couple. We found breakfast lacking. It is a ready-made buffet with inedible eggs, no vegetables and mediocre coffee. As for the location: Since we tried both this location and the location near the famed (god know why) Malecon 2000, we can't say which location is worst. There's nothing to do anywhere. There's a mall not far from this hotel, and a park you can stroll in (though it was extremely hot and hardly any shade). Airport transfer is arranged by the hotel, which is another great plus. However, on our way to the airport in the morning we met with horrible traffic and a drive that should take up to 15 minutes was more than 45 minutes... (We left the hotel around 8 in the morning). If these are your plans you might do better booking a hotel closer to the airport.
The staff is attentive and well trained. Good service here! They try hard! Close to San Marino Shopping Center/Mall
Pros - staff very friendly and had great English, easy pick up process for airport... Cons - room very loud with ac turning on and off, temperature not stable, hard to sleep.... worst of all, got food poisoning from the restaurant, spent the night throwing up and then barfed on the airplane too, made for very rough couple days...
