Railay Princess Resort & Spa

From check in to check out, the staff at the property were friendly and helpful making us feel most welcome. Even casual pass bys elicited a warm ‘sawatdee’ from all staff. The room and bathroom were quite big and quite clean. Our room was a bit of a walk from the main entrance but it was set right on Monkey Corner so we had an endlessly fascinating and entertaining time watching the naughty monkeys. As the front desk reminded us, make sure your balcony door is locked and nothing is left outside. One monkey grabbed our neighbor’s bikini top off her drying rack and luckily dropped it onto our balcony as he scampered off. Not sure what he/she wanted with it but it didn’t appear to be their size. We left it on our neighbor’s door knob but often wonder what she thought about seeing her top on the front door with no explanation. It’s Thailand! We arrived from Ao Nang so the walk from West Beach to East was a bit of a slog with suitcases and backpacks but our departure to Ko Lanta was exponentially more convenient as that ferry departs a 2 minute walk to the East pier. Location was excellent as it was far removed from the backpacker/club scrum and made a great starting point for our morning walks around the peninsula. Great value, great stay!

I initially booked just 2 nights but ended up staying for 13. The location is peaceful, surrounded by nature and monkeys and the overall atmosphere felt safe and relaxing. Reception staff were consistently kind and professional. One of the staff who delivered in-room dining a few times also stood out, polite, attentive, and service minded. I stayed on the first floor and occasionally heard footsteps from above but it didn’t affect my overall experience. This place became a solid, comfortable base. Highly recommend if you’re after a calm and grounded stay.

This hotel could be so much nicer but the rooms really need improving. They smell mouldy and need a deep clean, especially the bathrooms. There were a lot of flies in our room and the AC was really loud. On our first morning waking up there, we got a knock at our door at 8.50 am to clean the room. We explained that we were still in bed. There’s a good selection at breakfast and the pool area is nice. Overall I wouldn’t stay here again
