Beautiful hotel. Room 3 had a little terrace/balcony at the back which was lovely to sit on in the morning sun. The room had a coffee machine and kettle. The shower was really nice and the products provided were very high quality. The bed was super comfortable and we both slept really well. The hotel is in a quieter place of Gouda, but only a short 2 minute walk to the main square if you cut down the side of the cathedral. The complementary syrup waffles on check in was a lovely touch.
Absolutely lovely little hotel in a great location. The value for money is outstanding. The location is right off the main square, but very quiet, off the most charming canal in the town, next to the church and museum and a couple of leafy parks. Our room was a good; nicely laid out, with nice amenities. It was romantic and comfortable. The staff is absolutely lovely - everyone we talked to was service-oriented and ready to help, and the people we talked to were from the local area so offered nice ideas and made our short stay more personal. Gouda is really tiny and it’s really cute, despite the raging tourism around cheese. It’s one of those places that you wish was less discovered, but we whiled away an afternoon in a café, walked the quieter streets and canals, and had a very nice weekend.
Since the management of this hotel asked, here is my review in words: The room - even though spaceous - has a small closet for a WC. And the lavatory is all the way across the room... And the shower is next to the lavatory. And the shower, the lavatory and the WC are not even connected.... you just walk from one to the other... Usually, I would visit the WC and then I need to at least wash my hands... in this room, I had to cross the entire room and go around the bed so as to get to the lavatory. -Should have taken pictures because no one can believe me. And then the breakfast - I did use the service on a Thursday morning, where the plateaux of cheese and hams were in plain air without a serving utensil (fork, knife, tongue not even a spoon). I walked in around 8:30, there were 2 tables being served, and I had to go searching for a waiter... the menus were in Dutch only. I would not recommend this place for sure. As this was a business trip and the booking came from my company, I could not change it. But next time, I would much rather stay in Den Haag and commute via train than stay in this place.
