Great location. Bathroom in the room was clean. Tapestry in the room and lobby needs an update, it looks discolored and with stains. I can imagine the decor when it was new, must have been something special. It’s an old building, lighting within rooms is very limited (this based on my preference of well-lighted spaces, I know some like spaces more cosy). Service great, I had two non-routine requests and they delivered with grace. Location perfect, near historic center.

The biggest highlight of the Renaissance Philadelphia Downtown is its unbeatable location. It’s right in the heart of the city, making it easy to explore many major tourist attractions on foot. If you want to experience Philadelphia’s history and charm without relying on transportation, this is a great spot. However, the hotel itself feels old and only partially renovated. The rooms definitely had areas for improvement—worn-out furniture, stained and aged sofas, and average-quality bedding that didn’t match the price point. While the common areas had some updates, the overall feel was still dated. The service was efficient but impersonal, more corporate than warm or welcoming. It got the job done, but it lacked any special touch. For the price, I believe there are better options available in the city that offer a more modern and comfortable experience. The location is fantastic, but the rest of the hotel didn’t quite live up to expectations.

Check in day gave us a key to an occupied room, then moved to another room. New room tub spout not flush with wall. Water came out of spout and shower head. Toilet handle not attached. There 3 days. Cleaned on first day, second day no cleaning and out of conditioner, the desk staff was made aware of problems. Housekeeping then showed up at 4:30 asking if we needed towels and left. Third day we were now out of conditioner and shampoo. I guess they never check because the trash was also there for 3 days. The ice maker on the 6th floor was out the whole time, had to use 12th floor. Also, the second elevator was broken all three days. I don’t do reviews, but this has to be addressed. Marriott is better than this. The location was great, valet also, and the deli around the corner was better priced for breakfast items.
