Royal Grand Hotel

Did not stay at the hotel but ate at Cafe Royal twice. Brought the family here for breakfast twice during our family trip to Monrovia. Were there during the breakfast/brunch time and you could either order from the menu or take advantage of the buffet. Our kids were a little tired of the traditional Liberian food we had been having for breakfast and were happy for the American style breakfast and options. The pancakes and omelets were good. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and there was plenty of seating for both small and larger groups. The service was a little slow on both times we were there but it did not bother us that much as we were on vacation. Overall it was a really good expereince and I would definitely recommend. We also picked up some coffee, donuts and juice drinks from the Donut Bar (also inside the hotel). Nice selection of options and the staff was very friendly.

Beautiful lobby and toilets. Food is good in restaurant. $6 salad at the salad bar is good value. Have not stayed over night but would expect a high-quality stay. Orange store and ATM on the grounds are very convenient.

The rooms are large and clean. However, the bathroom are small. The service is medium - as some of the staff are nice and professional but most of are not The breakfast definitely needs to be improved for a hotel ranked as 5th star. The annex of the hotel where I also stayed by choice needs major improvements with regard to the furniture, the windows that are not blinding, the housekepping not consistent in quality, smart not provided in all appartements, the management a work in progress and the security guards who are not friendly at all...just make want to leave!
