Just returned from a 4 night stay at the Royal Karthago. Long story short, I was thankful it was only 4 days. The room was OK. Not as bright as they look in the photos, but this is to be expected. The shower was great with loads of power. But the drains were blocked so it flooded the rest of the bathroom. The bed was comfy, but the room was boiling! And aircon not on as it was March, so not summer. Also, the pillow was like a huge slab or rock. Pool and beach were lovely. Though we found the animations overly loud at times. The food was dire! Tepid, repetative buffet with plenty to offer, if you're a fan of liver - the main meat 2 of the nights we were there (we're definitely not fans of liver). We had chicken 1 night - which was undercooked in the middle. Very little fruit, with just apples and oranges available. I also found it odd that you can only get bottled water at lunch and dinner. No idea what you're meant to do for the rest of the day? Take care with changing money. We were told when changing out £s that we needed to keep the reciept to change it back at the hotel. Then at check out we were told we needed to change it back at the airport. When we got to the airport we were told they couldn't change the money because the hotel hadn't stamped and signed the receipt. When we finally got it sorted, £s could only be changed into euros (this might not be a bad thing as I need a holiday to recover from my holiday). Overall. It felt like it was nice 15 years ago, or might be nice in 15 yeas time. It was nice to be warm in March. But, I'd recommend staying elsewhere.

The worst Hotel I've ever been. The seashore is dirty. The beach bar was terrible (bad quality of drinks in old-ugly plastic cups). The food was almost OK but the foods were simple and monotone (my wife got strep throat and we didn't eat or drink anywhere else). Our room was poor and in the tub came up dirty water when others were showering on the upper floor. The staff (animators) was bored. They seemed to have no desire for anything. I never go there again.

This hotel is no way ready for English guests. Most of the staff don’t speak English. They are rude unhelpful and condescending. They do not cater for English on any level. Food tv stations currency etc. There was no air conditioning even though it was 34 degrees. The food was the same every day and not labelled so you didn’t know what it was. The rooms are very outdated and very dark and claustrophobic if you are on the ground level as you can’t leave your windows open. The pool area is ok and the animation team are so friendly and professional. Had to pay £20 for pool towels and £1 each day to change them. I could go on but I’ll leave it there.
