I stayed at the Royalton for a week while on a mission trip, the location is great, super close to the airport, right on the beach. Amazing cocktails, great selection of food. Our rooms were nice modern, clean rooms. Entertainment and the bartenders definitely made our evenings after work fun and enjoyable! A big thank you to management and staff, everyone was very friendly, accommodating and made us feel like we were home. Would definitely recommend this resort for your next stay in Grenada! Looking forward to my next visit! :)
I stayed at the Royalton Grenada for 5 days while we dropped a family member off to St, George’s University. The location is close to the airport and close to the campus which is convenient. However, there were some things I found during our stay that weren’t as convenient. I will say I did overall enjoy my stay, however there are many things about the stay that I wish would have been improved by the staff. Upon check in, we were notified that we were diamond club members. We were told we had 24 hr room service, a butler, access to a private pool, free drinks and minibar. It sounded very nice at first. As we stayed, we realized that the staff was very hard to contact. Although we had a “butler”, I felt that that butler did not benefit our stay at all. Yes, the butler was certainly kind, but pretty much all they did was send good morning and good evening messages saying “i hope all is going well and reach out if you need any assistance.” Reaching out to find assistance for simple things was very hard at this resort. I slept on a couch pull out in the room- it was comfortable, but we were left with no pillows or blankets for the sofa pull out. When trying to call the housekeeping, nobody replied. I called front desk, the operator, the bellboy, the concierge, essentially pressed every quick contact button on the phone and could not get through to anyone. It was like a miracle if someone answered the phone. Same with water bottles. We were told our mini bar would be restocked daily, but it was not. We went to bed some nights without water just because it was so hard to obtain any- the bars would not give us plastic water bottles, and the front desk manager had to come to our room to deliver water at 12 AM because nobody else cared enough to do it. The room was very nice, the resort was beautiful. The food was absolutely horrible at the buffets, but it was good at all 3 restaurants. None of the food from the buffet is local and you can tell. The selection of fruit in Grenada is vast and exotic, but the selection of fruit at this buffet consists of some honey dew, bland white pineapple, heavily seeded watermelon, and extremely sour passionfruit. One trip onto the streets of Grenada and I tried more fruits than were even available at the buffet. Overall, I had a pleasant time at this resort. But my biggest complaint was the lack of service here- it made me feel like nobody wanted to do their job because of how minimal and slow paced things were. I do not think this resort captured the true local beauty of Grenada. It seems like a focused on money making resort with no regard for local culture. I am grateful for my stay, but am certain that the quality of this stay was not anywhere close to spending over $1000 a night.
I’ve waited to cool down before making this review, compared to the other all inclusive properties on the island and other Royalton resorts, this was a truly disappointing experience from start to finish. Here a quick bullet points to keep in mind: - Although the airport is the next street over (literally) this property does not offer a shuttle - Even if you do a mobile check in, still be prepared to wait HOURS for your room - When finally get to your room, you might be missing wash cloths, perhaps the shampoo bottle is missing, the mini fridge won’t be fully stocked - Ants everywhere - Room service takes 2+ hours from order to delivery - Dinner reservations were only able to be made through the butler, instead of the app due to poor system management - Although this is a primarily black island, with the majority of the staff being black and this was also during the emancipation celebration, it was obvious people with a lighter hue were getting far better and quicker treatment - The front desk staff will tell you different things depending on what shift their working and sadly the information on the app apparently isn’t reliable as well In good faith, I cannot recommend this place to any of my loved ones. For the same price, and a better experience, go to Sandals. That’s the preferred choice overall and after this experience, I understand why. Next year we will be staying elsewhere because no one deserves to be working twice as hard on vacation just to simply be comfortable.
