Ruthin Castle Hotel and Spa

It was amazing staying at Ruthin Castle and hotel. The Castle is absolutely wonderful surrounded by large beautiful gardens. I was able to walk around the whole castle, there were doors open to walk into the gardens at various places of the castle/hotel. The room was large with a superb view. The staff were so lovely in particular Kate that worked at the Reception and Ruth that was working at the breakfast buffet. The breakfast and dinner served was very nice too. This Castle had lots of peacocks and rabbits roaming the garden grounds, that was nice. All in all, I would love to stay here again.

I have stayed in 17 hotels over the past year and this one by far gave me the best sleep of all of them. Beds and pillows were fantastic. Rooms not too hot and not too cold, good water pressure. And comfy sofas everywhere, so much lounging space around the hotel and stuff is actually attentive and nice but not pretentious at all, given that King Charles stayed there for the night before his coronation as prince of Wales in the 80ies. The combination of vast garden grounds with huge old trees and hordes of rabbits running on the green lawns, fresh air, the long spacious ancient halls with comforting wooden floors that give that homely creek when walked on, the stunning medieval castle grounds (it’s simply a National trust heritage site sort of place but it’s all for you at the time of your stay) And you have breakfast in kings hall that you see in the movies about knights! The huge medieval tent in the breakfast garden to provide shelter from the rain if there is any on the day. Wondering around in the morning after a decent English breakfast, with a cup of coffee and being amused by half a dozen on PEACOCKS jumping on an off crumbling walls of the old castle, with their tails spread and being not afraid of people) Plenty of parking and it sits right in the middle of very old village that has King Arthur stone, houses that were built in Elisabeth I times. Amazing experience. I went to a different golf club hotel for the next night that was more expensive and I regretted. Should have stayed in this one!

Spent three relaxing nights here. It has a great atmosphere and a lot of history. Gardens are fantastic, peacocks and rabbits are seen wondering around. I would recommend the breakfast too. Food and drinks are expensive but there are plenty of places in Ruthin which is less than a five minute walk. Come home feeling totally refreshed.
