We stayed at the Salmakis for a week in June 2025 as a couple. We’d read the reviews, both good and critical, before booking and so we didn’t know what to expect. We were very pleasantly surprised. I personally think the hotel is beautiful, a stunning piece of architecture. There are so many elements to it; little alleyways and secret gardens. It’s like a maze when you first get there and wonderous to investigate until you get your bearings. It’s wonderfully light and open too. The rooms are simple but good and have everything you need. Lots of storage for clothes, additional comfy chairs and a great dressing table for you to sit at getting ready. You’d be surprised how many places we’ve stayed in that just don’t get this right, but the Salmakis did. The bathroom is small and windowless, so it gets very hot and steamy, and the door opening is a bit awkward. As it is on an outside wall, they could benefit from having a window opening put in and the door replaced with a concertina opening one. However, these little things are just my thoughts, and the bathroom didn’t affect our stay one bit. The view from our sea view room was spectacular. What more can I say. The pool area was fantastic, a great design. There’s also a large, grassed area and dedicated beach area. There were loads of loungers, always some vacant, so no need to set your alarm and take your towels down to bag a seat lol The staff at the hotel were all extremely friendly, polite and helpful. The restaurant was very roomy, with plenty of tables and not too close together. The waiters were very attentive and catered to your every need with smiles on their faces. We thought the food was excellent. There are some reviews that say it got repetitive, but there’s only so much different things you can make. We found there was lots of choice, all cooked to perfection and all very tasty. We couldn’t fault it. The hotel does have a few cats but as we are cat lovers, this didn’t bother us in the slightest. We took a few packets of dreamies to treat them. They were friendly harmless cuties and added to our enjoyment. Some reviews said you could walk to Gumbet or Bodrum in minutes, but as fit and healthy early fifty-year-olds, we didn’t find this to be the case. But they are only a short and cheap taxi journey away. Although we preferred the water bus to Bodrum, which was brilliant. When we were leaving, we were not picked up util late afternoon and to have a late check out was quite expensive. But they offer the use of the spa, which has excellent facilities, which was very handy. All in all, we had a fabulous time, could easily have had a longer stay and would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone. And I must repeat, the hotel itself is stunning in my opinion, with lots of character. A unique delight. Not one of these modern, forgettable buildings there’s too many of nowadays.
My 5 start to great clean hotel, amazing receptionist 🫶and cleaners 💕but I won't say the same thing about waiters who work in the restaurant area. They are embarrassingly loud when you accidentally enter the food area with your bikinis etc. Not very good manners as they don't know how to politely warn / talk to someone. I had a great stay food and location was amazing.
This is NOT a 5 star hotel. The washroom smelled like sewage. There was no water bottles in the room. We emailed and call hotel to ask about parking in advance and to book a La carte restaurant. There was no answer from them. They replied with an email AFTER we checked-in to the hotel that neither is available. The snack bar was the only one open when we arrived and there was only some junk food. We got a mediocre burger and Cesar salad with mustard and some burnt chicken in it. The room was somewhat clean, but the washroom smelled like sewage, towels full of sol stains, dirty furniture with stains again, ripped bedsheets (actual whole on the bedsheet), a broken safe box, broken doorstop and dangerously opened ceiling vent. No hooks in the washroom, but a screw in the door to hang your towels. Only the view from room was great. 1.5h after we checked-in, we wanted to leave the place and came to the reception. They turned us to the guest relations girl. She said to us that they cannot refund the day we arrived as we checked-in, but can refund the next day. We agreed and booked another hotel right away. After that we went out to the city to have a coffee. As Salmakis hotel was offering Nescafé instant coffee as espresso or cappuccino. We came back 2h later and the reception upon taking the car key from us told us there will be no refund for the next day and the guest relations girl is a trainee, so she did not know what she was saying. We asked for the manager immediately and were told that he/she already left for the day. The manager never came out to us personally to talk or to see for why we are not happy. In the morning no one asked or came out from the management while we were checking out. The reception staff said they cannot refund us or do anything and told us to address all these issues and talk to Agoda booking service.
