Hidden Gem in Ocho Rios! I had an amazing stay at Sand and Tan Beach Hotel! The location is absolutely unbeatable tucked between the calm Caribbean Sea and the beautiful White River, it truly offers the best of both worlds. The beach is quiet, clean, and just steps from the rooms, and I loved being able to take the paddleboard up the river such a peaceful and unique experience. The room was spacious, clean, and relaxing on the balcony with a perfect ocean view. The staff were warm, friendly, and always willing to help with anything we needed. Breakfast was delicious every morning fresh and full of flavor, with great local options. It’s not a big resort, which is exactly what we wanted. Instead, it felt authentic, personal, and peaceful ideal for anyone looking to unplug and enjoy the natural beauty of Jamaica. I’ll definitely be back
If you’re looking for a laid-back, locally owned hotel with stunning beach access, friendly faces, and a strong Jamaican vibe this is a great choice. Just be aware it’s not a luxury resort. I’d recommend it for couples or solo travelers wanting to experience the real Jamaica, not just the touristy version. The location is unbeatable you’re literally steps from a calm, scenic beach with gorgeous sunset views. The hotel is tucked away in a quieter area of Ocho Rios, which makes it feel like a peaceful escape from the crowds The pier access is a great bonus we saw turtles in the water and even took a paddleboard up the river The staff were genuinely warm and helpful who made us feel at home and helped with everything from excursions to food recommendations
This is not a 4 star hotel by any means. It should really be half the price and listed as a hostel/2 star hotel. The hotel itself is small, old, and dirty. We got there at noon, but check in wasn’t until 3pm. We were able to get our room at 2:30pm, but when we walked in we noticed our bed was dirty. There was sand, hair and dried rice on the sheets. I was so nervous about bed bugs we checked multiple times a day every day. I don’t think there were any bed bugs as my husband didn’t have bites and we assumed mine were from mosquitoes. There were dead bugs and dirt on the floors. The towels were stained. Breakfast was good and cooked to order. The beach was great. Staff were friendly enough and responsive. The only good thing about the hotel are the beach views and the beach. Other than that it’s extremely overpriced and dirty for what it is.
