Savoia Excelsior Palace Trieste Starhotels Collezione

Amazing, luxurious rooms in a historic palace building a few steps away from the beautiful main square of Trieste. We come back for 3-4 nights every year, we love it. Food is good, but the Trieste experience is to eat out and enjoy the city's vibe. Note that not all the rooms are equally nice. If you don't like yours, ask them to show you some others.

As an introduction to Trieste, the Savoia was the only hotel considered, principally because of the history and location. Regarding this, I was delighted with my experience at the SEP. The style of the hotel was spot on to my liking, elegantly updated, creating a feeling of comfort. However, the people of SEP were the highlight of my week-long stay. Giulio, the concierge, was a competent, friendly, and assured friend to the traveler. I will miss him. Giovanni, tending bar in the lobby, was a gentleman of calm mastery and pleasantness. Our relationship was just as it should have been: friendly, professional, and caring. When one is charged with satisfying a customer with nice drinks, this is a rare gift. An honourable mention should go to Elisabeth in the reception for making my arrival and check-in a positive expectation for my stay at SEP. My ratings markdowns are simple; the carpet in my room was beyond its appropriate lifespan and should have been replaced long ago. While my unknown housekeeper took wonderful care of my room, the condition of the carpet detracted from a full, positive rating. The chairs on my balcony seemed like an afterthought and did not appear to be the same as those provided to other balconies. Finally, as an American from Tennessee, the cooling system became acceptable once I acclimated to it, but it couldn't be considered first-rate. In conclusion, I look forward to returning to the Savoia Excelsior Palace when I have the opportunity to revisit Trieste. Just now, as I write, I have a wisp of emotion for having left.

We stayed at this beautiful hotel for 4 nights in June 2025. We cannot express adequately our thanks for the elevated level of service, attention to detail and beautiful rooms that we enjoyed here. While our holiday had been interrupted prior to arriving with a health issue, the staff were very helpful and attentive, making our time in Trieste really special. We look forward to returning soon.
