Shangri La Far Eastern Tainan

Had an amazing time staying here. The room was very spacious, and we didn’t need to place any of our luggages on the floor because there were plenty of space to place it at table height, which was convenient. The bathroom counter was also huge, so there was plenty of space for toiletries. The interior decor and furnishings are a bit dated, but I’ll give this a pass because everything has been very well maintained, so you don’t really notice any wear and tear. The room was very quiet and soundproof, so I didn’t hear any external noise at all. One thing I really appreciated—and what stood out to me the most—was the service. We had placed our toiletries on top of the hand towels, and when the cleaners came, they replaced the towels with a cloth and reorganised our items. While this may seem like a minor detail, I thought it showed a great attention to detail. They also provided my wife with a small cake for her birthday without us informing the hotel at all (I assume it was something they noticed when we provided our personal details during booking). Her birthday was even on the day we were checking out, so there really was no need for the hotel to do this! One thing I will point out, though—as mentioned in another recent review—is that the hotel places an incidental deposit charge on your credit card. It’s been nearly a week and the charge is still pending and waiting to be cleared. The deposit also cost more than the hotel booking itself (nearly twice the cost for us). Luckily for us, our credit card limit isn’t an issue, but you may want to keep this in mind. In terms of location, I can't really say. It's conveniently located next to the train station but we had to Uber everywhere anyways. This seems more on Tainan having poor public transport and not pedestrian friendly though.

From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed and consistently impressed by the professionalism, attentiveness, and friendliness of the staff. I am also grateful to the Horizon Club Lounge management team (Jane, Shiuan, Dora, Andrew, Armond, Natalie, Irene, Naomi) for maintaining such high standards and fostering a culture of care and excellence. It’s clear that every staff member takes great pride in their role, and it truly made a difference in my experience. Thank you once again for your exceptional service and hospitality. I checked in yesterday. Found my desk have a 1 cm cockroach and a few small ones. Today after return from my work, I ask the room attendants to clean up my desk and vacuum the room. I got back to my room to work and I just saw small cockroach again. Think this room is started to be infested by cockroaches. I have left the dead body of cockroach and video it when it alive. I welcome the hotel manager to look for me. 30th Jul 2025 I appreciate Shangri La hotel manager Nelly ( i suppose getting the right name) initiate a change of room for me today evening after I returned from work. I didn't expect this and really glad that she do consider making up my first stay in Shangri La Tainan to be so pleasant. Please keep up the good work. I would definitely recommend this hotel stay for my company colleagues in future. Thank you so much.
