Shibu Hotel

We stayed at Shibu Hotel in February last year and haven’t been able to stop talking about it since. The hotel was gorgeous and the room was so traditional and absolutely stunning. Our names were even handwritten on the door! But the aspect that made our stay particularly special was that Kazuyoshi and his family were the most amazing hosts we’ve ever had at a hotel. They really go above and beyond for their guests. We were personally picked up and dropped off at both the station and the monkey park. Kazuyoshi even kept us in mind while we were at the monkey park and started to get worried when we took so long to ask to be collected! We really felt so looked after. When we wanted dinner at the sushi restaurant next door, Kazuyoshi ran over in the snow and made the reservation in person. His lovely wife helped us adjust our yukata before we went to use the public onsens. I even emailed back and forth before our stay and Kazuyoshi diligently answered every query. Nothing was too much to ask…. And we were so grateful! We’d love to come back one day and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone considering booking.

Perfect place to stay and see the monkeys! The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. They provide a shuttle bus to and from the monkeys as well as snow boots, should you need them . The meals are genuinely Japanese and delicious. They have an elevator and private hot springs baths. They also have rooms with real beds.

I stayed here with a tour , the hosts were so kind and endearing and made us all feel so at home. They accommodated for all our needs as a large 16 people group and went above and beyond. The facilities were amazing, clean and comfortable- we loved the private onsen available as a travelling couple. Would love to return and highly recommend to all!
