Silene Resort & Spa

This place, a testament to Latvia's natural splendor, unveils itself as a pearl of Mother Nature, a sanctuary of unparalleled beauty within the Latgale region. The landscape here is a symphony of colors and textures, a harmonious blend of the earth's artistry. The place is a bit of drive from Daugavpils and is located in a small village, there is only 1 shop and a lake a few walk away. The hotel has a reception, but no one is there. The breakfast is located in the resort 9km away and they serve breakfast only at 9am (it was not written anywhere and we drove all the way there for nothing!). The rooms are nice and the hotel looks better inside than outside.

We reserved a table on the terrace three weeks in advance and traveled from Riga. Upon arrival, we were told that a banquet was taking place on the enclosed terrace, and we were seated inside, near the restaurant entrance. However, we had called twice to confirm that nothing had changed regarding our reservation time. Additionally, the waiter did not inform us that the breadbasket now contained only two types of bread, no longer including grissini sticks, and that the ciabatta had been replaced with a regular baguette. The food was exceptionally delicious—special thanks to the chef—but unfortunately, the overall coordination and service were disappointing.
