Skagen Strand Holiday Center

Very picturesque with the location right off the Swedish coastline. Some great view from the outdoor sea facing pool and a very nice wellness area as well. Staff was friendly and rooms were clean. Perhaps the room size was a bit small and the breakfast could have more variety. But overall a great place.

We have spent 5 days in this vacation camp and have found the following: 1/ Overall great experience: - very spacious houses, approx 70 m2, we were 5 of us and didn't have the 'squeezed in' feeling - very few guests (or at least we didnt meet them) despite we visited this place in high season, beginning August - great many free time activities, all included in the price: swimming pool, minigolf, both outdoor and indoor badminton and table tennis - beautiful nature around us, including nature & pedestrian friendly pathes towards the sea - friendly staff - absolutely affordable price: we paid EUR 208 per night for the whole house. In comparison: we have tried another vacation park this summer in south-west Denmark which was super crowded and that we didnt like at all although we paid EUR 450 per night for a house being max 1/3 of m2 of this one.. - Skagen, being a very nice small town, near 2/ Minor remarks: - we weren't able to make the sauna (in the sportshall) work.. - the zip line is currently not safe to use: it ends too abruptly via the tire which is placed still on the 'slope' (downwards) part - it should be placed further to the left to make sure it smoothly slows down the ride. My husband tried to ride it and simply fell off due to the sudden stop.. - we arrived outside opening hours when the reception was closed already. Nevertheless we did find very easily the envelope on our name with instructions and key cards to our house which was great and smooth check-in. Only we hadn't received any sms or email about that earlier (which the vacation centre claims to have sent to all guests upfront) - this is something already mentioned by another guest in an earlier review from some years ago. So apparently the 'issue' has remained, but nevertheless for us check in was a seamless experience even without staff being around 3/ Biggest negative: We travelled here all the way from a Belgian big city to enjoy the desolate, undisturbed nature and the tranquility. Well, the resort has everything to offer this - but then apparently they decided to do some works (washing house walls with high pressure cleaner) right then when we stayed there and right next to (opposite) us. It meant the first 2 days of our stay we woke up for a terrible noise very near us (they started the work before 8 AM) with a constant headache, and they wouldn't have stopped for hours, at least half day both days. Via this we were exposed to much more noise during our holidays then on a normal workday in a big city. After 2 days fortunately it stopped - simply because weekend was coming and then I believe people don't work. But this act we considered very inconsiderate even disrespectful towards the guests. And all this in high season. When we complained about it at the reception, the helpful staff member reacted as 'Yes, I know you are right and it is a very bad timing to do such works, but our boss decided to do these works now'. We didn't appreciate this approach. Despite this, I give 4 stars, because it was a temporary element which doesn't belong to the standard characteristics of this holiday resort and hopefully hotel management will learn from this feedback to next time choose the timing for such works wiser. Considering everything else I would have even given 6* for this resort.

Restaurant messed up our order and kept us waiting for over 1 hour and they didn’t even try to help instead they said that we should have reminded them ourselves.
