Sonesta Maho Beach Resort and Casino and Spa

The location was beautiful. The beach water was amazing. The only thing is if you are looking for an adults only resort this would not be the place. You are on the beach with babies, small kids and their families. It wasn't a major issue for me because I love kids however paying for an adults only vacation location is problematic when you learn differently. The people on the beach that give massages, I tell you it was the best I have ever had. I would go just for that massage again. I had the guy, I believe his name was Jj but not sure.

I had high hopes for our stay at Sonesta, but it turned out to be a very disappointing experience. From the moment we arrived on Sunday, we dealt with issues that were never properly resolved. The bathroom flooded every single day due to a problem with the shower, and we had to sleep with the floor completely wet. The toilet also clogged during our stay, and even though we called for maintenance multiple times, they took forever to show up, if they came at all. Housekeeping never came to clean our room, so we were left to deal with the mess ourselves. The air conditioning barely worked, leaving the room hot and uncomfortable, which made everything feel even worse after spending time outside. The food was also a major letdown. Most of it was buffet-style, but there was no proper air circulation in the dining areas. The food just sat there in the heat, making it not only unappetizing but also questionable in terms of freshness and safety. Overall, this stay did not live up to expectations at all. For what we paid, the quality of service and comfort was nowhere near acceptable. I truly hope management addresses these issues because the location has potential but right now, it’s not worth it.

I had an extremely disappointing stay at this resort. From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly unfriendly and unwelcoming. At every bar we visited, not once did any employee acknowledge us with a simple "Good afternoon" or even a smile — it was as if we were bothering them just by being there. If you're planning to sit with a large party of 8 or more, be prepared to be charged an extra $25 per person. Asking for a table for our group of 8 was met with resistance and attitude; it felt like we were asking for a favor rather than a basic service. The service overall was slow and inconsistent. One morning, we waited over 30 minutes just for water and coffee, and we were with four kids — it was frustrating and stressful. The lack of care and proper training among the staff is very noticeable. Whenever we asked questions or needed assistance, the employees seemed miserable and reluctant to help. It seemed as though they hated their jobs and didn't want to serve guests at all. On a positive note, the resort is well-located, the rooms were clean, and the water quality was wonderful. These aspects made our stay somewhat bearable, but overall, the service and attitude of the staff left a lot to be desired. I do not recommend this resort. The service was terrible, and the attitude of the staff was disappointing. Definitely not worth the stay.
