Our stay at Sumaq in Aguas Calientes was a flawless five-star experience from the moment we arrived. A friendly staff member Christian met us right at the train station, helped with our luggage, and escorted us to the hotel, making us feel instantly cared for. Upon arrival, we were welcomed with refreshing drinks made from local fruits—such a lovely touch! The staff throughout our stay were incredibly kind, attentive, and always ready to assist, making everything effortless and enjoyable. We especially want to highlight Hermitaño and Milagros for their outstanding service in the restaurant, which made every meal even more memorable. The hotel itself is stunning, with beautiful river and mountain views, and our room was spacious, spotless, and full of thoughtful details. The food was outstanding. The à la carte restaurant served exquisite dishes blending traditional Andean flavors with modern twists. Breakfast was a highlight—a generous buffet featuring a wide variety of choices, including fresh local fruits and freshly made smoothies that were both delicious and energizing. Great choices of vegetables and freshly baked bread. We also appreciated the special sweet treats delivered to our room. Sumaq truly made our Machu Picchu visit unforgettable. For anyone seeking luxury, comfort, and exceptional service, this hotel is the perfect choice!

Sumaq Machu Picchu has a great location near the river and close to the bus station to Machu Picchu, which is very convenient. The rooms are comfortable and well-decorated, and the views are beautiful. However, for the high price, the overall service and experience did not fully meet expectations. While some staff were kind and helpful, service was inconsistent at times — especially at the restaurant and front desk. The food was good, but not outstanding for the price level. It’s a nice hotel, but it feels more like a 3-star experience with luxury pricing. With some improvements in service and attention to detail, it could be a much better value.
