This is a YWCA building and in order to book a room one of the guests must be female. The hotel is located in a quiet neighbourhood. There is no metro station near by but there are buses that stop right at the corner and then it is a couple of minutes walk up hill to the hotel. It is an affordable hotel with your bare minimum. The hotel is clean but was disappointed with their housekeeping service. During our stay, only the towels were changed and nothing else. Our beds were not made. They only provide complementary tea but no coffee and they don’t refill it either. Bottled water is charged at HK$12 per bottle, so bring your own. The only toiletries provided were toothpaste and toothbrush. They don’t even replenish the wood stirring sticks for your hot drink. We asked for extra sticks at the front desk, and were told they don’t have any. Are they expecting guests to reuse the one stick they provide during their whole stay?!?!?
Location is good. Staff are mixed - older guy with glasses was very friendly, the lady was fast but rarely smiled, the other guy with glasses didn't smile at all and was more of a robot than a human (would not hire him if it was my team). The young guy tried to help but he seemed more like a junior. Three reasons for a low rating: Firstly, cleaning isn’t done thoroughly before you check-in. Found dust in the corners of the wardrobe. Secondly, there was a mold issue with my bathroom and apparently all the bathrooms in the hotel. That's a health and safety hazard. If you have lung problems or allergies, like eczema or pollen or mold allergy, then I would not book this place. For me, it triggered my allergies, had rashes on my skin, and an itchy then sore throat. And although they did a deep clean of the bathroom when I raised the issue, there was still some mold left, causing my allergies. Moreover, this shouldn't have been addressed only after it being mentioned by me. They should regularly do a mold check each time after a guest checks out as part of their health and safety routine (but they clearly don't). This will not be allowed anywhere in the EU or UK, as it would be considered a health and safety hazard. I don't know how Hong Kong would have any lesser standards being a developed city. For that reason, I wouldn’t book this place again, and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Thirdly, the Aircon in the hallway and on each floor hall is simply way too high and ridiculously cold, compared to outside. It's a waste of energy and very bad for the environment. Ridiculously, you see the staff wearing long trousers and a long sleeve jacket indoors as it's freezing inside at around 18 to 22°, when ironically it's 27° and 28° outside. It's sickening, not welcoming at all. Perfect if you want your customers who just travelled in to get sick. Aggravated my already sore throat from the mold allergy.
Worst service I ever experienced , I met with 3 front desk in different time only the female seems to be helpful and other 2 male talk very poorly in the most annoyed tones to you , I tried to ignore but I had such a bad experience that I will not only come back to this hotel , but wont be coming to Hong Kong anymore. If they keep treating their guess like this. No free water in the room , enjoy carry big water up the slope. And every time you walk back from your 20,000 steps day out , you still have to walk up this slope everyday. Locations is 15 mins away from MRT mongkok , if you can find other hotel that are closer with free water and slightly more expensive , just go there. Dont end up suffer and be treated like me in this hotel. The room is big and new but after all those experiences , nothing matter , I rather stay in a more professional hotel elsewhere.
