Tea & Experience Factory

I visited the hotel few weeks ago and the it was a very nice experience. We had experience on tea processing techniques which is very unique to this hotel. Mr Lakshan, did a very detailed demonstration on the process and he was very friendly. Location of the hotel was mind blowing and it was the best place to relax after hectic work schedule. Food was delicious. Would like to highlight the condition of the access road; it was poorly maintained, and difficult to travel on rainy days.

WHAT AN ABSOLUTE AMAZING EXPERIENCE!!! This is one of those rare gems where just one night isn't enough — a minimum of two nights is ideal to truly soak it all in. Staying in a real-life, converted tea factory is not just unique — it’s magical. The sustainable materials and clever design choices make it all the more impressive. There’s no TV in the rooms, which only adds to the peaceful atmosphere. The silence, the fresh mountain air, and sitting by the heated fire… absolute bliss. The grounds are stunningly maintained — it genuinely feels like a slice of paradise. The tea factory tour, tea plucking experience, and even the complimentary hike to the nearby waterfalls were all top-notch. Huge kudos to Lakshan and his team — their knowledge and passion elevated every activity. Lakshan is truly a gem and a credit to the resort. A special mention to Mr. Kumara and the restaurant team — the food was FANTASTIC and the service flawless. Every meal was a treat! While the pool wasn’t heated and felt a bit chilly, it didn’t take away from the experience. A steam or sauna room with that incredible view could be a great future addition. Do note: the final 5km stretch to the hotel is a winding narrow road — but trust me, the journey is part of the adventure and absolutely worthwhile!!!

We had a truly wonderful stay at the Tea & Experience Factory in Mandaramnuwara. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and taken care of with genuine hospitality. A special mention goes to Mr. Vinoth, the manager, who went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and relaxing. His attention to detail and willingness to accommodate our needs made a lasting impression. The food was excellent, with a good variety of dishes made from fresh vegetables. The waitstaff were incredibly friendly, and every member of the team greeted us with a warm smile throughout our stay. One particularly thoughtful gesture was when the staff kept the buffet open longer for us, knowing we were returning late from a hike — a small act that meant a lot. The in-house naturalist, Mr. Lakshan, also made our experience extra special. His tour of the tea plantation was fascinating — from hand-plucking the leaves to learning how they’re turned into tea powder. He shared many interesting facts about tea and the history of the hotel, which added great depth to our visit. The only negative point was that the walls of the rooms were very thin which made it uncomfortable as we could hear all the surrounding sounds and we didn't have much privacy in this regard either. This was truly one of the best holidays we’ve had. We loved every minute of it and would highly recommend the Tea & Experience Factory to anyone looking for breathtaking views, peaceful surroundings, and warm, friendly hospitality.
