The Aiyana

The Aiyana Beach Resort is an luxurious sanctuary where you find peace. Time stands still here and you are reunited with the quiet side of life. There are few places in the world that seem untouched and this is one of them. The staff is like family and they treat you as such. Food is exceptional-well seasoned and beautifully presented. The architecture and design of the hotel is coherent and playful. Rooms are grand with high celings, tasteful decoration, beautiful building materials that feel great to touch. The owner, designer and architect fell in love with the town and resonates throughout the hotel-there is a story. Now to get here it takes 1.5 hours from the airport- 1 hour street and 30 minutes "african massage" so they call it. However the towns and the people you see as you drive by are so welcoming. The children especially-bring candy they like that. Bring water shoes as with low tide some of the rocks are sharp and there are sea urchins. Be prepared to be able to walk down the beach without being disturbed. Excusions. We like to snorkel and there is a 10-15 minute slow boat ride to the light house where a guide from the hotel can take you and show you the sealife. If you get seasick take some meds with you. Take a bike tour of the town and the east side of the beach. We love the Aiyana and can only highly recommend it. Thank you.

They go above and beyond to make sure your stay is perfect. It’s rare to encounter such a consistently high level of care and hospitality. Without a doubt, the food was the best we had during our entire time in Tanzania. The Mauritian-inspired dishes, thanks to the owner’s heritage, are bursting with flavor and creativity. Every meal felt like a celebration of fresh, high-quality ingredients and culinary artistry. Ashok, the owner of the Aiyana, is a kind, sweet, and genuinely lovely man. His passion for hospitality shines through in every detail of the lodge. His warmth and personal touch make you feel like a cherished guest rather than just another visitor. Yes, Aiyana is expensive, but unlike other luxury places that charge an arm and a leg without delivering, this place is worth every single cent. Aiyana is a slice of paradise.
