The Cricket Inn

Just back from a few days in Devon, this place being within walking distance of our campsite. Beer good, food outstanding. The place has a lovely vibe, a mix of locals and tourists (in August). It’s managed to keep its authenticity as a community pub whilst pushing to elevate its standards in the kitchen, quite a hard balancing act but completely achieved it here. My only regret, we didn’t get chance to try this seafood pancake they talk of. Next time.

We have just had a one night B&B stay and booked for dinner too. The room was lovely with a fantastic view. The window seat was wonderful to sit and gaze out of. We were so lucky to see a pod of Dolphins pass by very close to shore. The dinner was delicious as was the cooked breakfast, everything cooked to perfection. The staff are so helpful and pleasant, chatting and smiling, nothing too much trouble. The atmosphere in the bar and restaurant is great. I can't wait to come back to eat and stay. Thankyou for a lovely birthday treat.

Food great. Service brilliant. Only reason it failed to warrant 5 stars was the manager. He was arrogant and rude when I asked for my cloudy pint to be changed. He said it wasn’t cloudy it was condensation. It was cloudy and tasted off. He said “ I’m wrong he was right”. Swapped for a good pint of something else. Cost his staff their gratuity. Him a future customer(s) all because he disagreed in a very unfriendly manner. Hospitality is a concept with which he is not acquainted.
