The Gunter Hotel San Antonio Riverwalk

I had originally booked a stay at the Gunter Hotel but was informed just days before my trip that the property was still under renovation and my reservation had to be canceled. Naturally, I was disappointed and inconvenienced. However, the staff handled the situation with such professionalism and care. I received a personal phone call with a sincere apology and, more importantly, they arranged a nearby hotel stay on my behalf. Their proactive communication and willingness to take responsibility truly stood out. I appreciate how seriously they took the matter, and their kindness turned what could have been a frustrating experience into a positive one. I look forward to visiting the newly renovated Gunter Hotel in the future.

Very clean and orderly. Polite staff and good service. It was very nostalgic for me, as a musician. This is where Robert Johnson recorded 29 songs, in Nov. 1936. In a makeshift studio of 2 connecting rooms.

Haven’t even been here 24 hours and already feel we made a Big Mistake. The A/C in the room does not work and they don’t know how to work the new controls. Needed ice and went to three floors and no ice. Asked them to bring us ice and they brought two empty ice buckets. The bathroom lites come on automatically and there is no way to turn them off. Small refrigerator that Also does not get drinks cold. The hotel is beautiful but need a cool room to sleep and working ice machines at their “Hydration Stations”!
