The Leela Ashtamudi A Raviz Hotel

We recently visited The Leela Raviz Hotel in Kollam, Kerala to celebrate my sister’s wedding anniversary, expecting a high-quality experience from a 5-star property. Unfortunately, it turned out to be very disappointing. Despite the hotel’s beautiful location and branding as a luxury destination, the food served was not fresh at all. Many of the dishes lacked flavor, and some tasted like they had been prepared long before being served. This was especially disheartening given the importance of the occasion. Beyond the food, the overall service and atmosphere were far below expectations. Staff seemed inattentive, and there was a general lack of care in how things were handled—from table setup to hospitality. For a 5-star hotel, we expected professionalism, attention to detail, and warmth—all of which were missing. We didn’t stay overnight, so I can’t speak to the rooms, but based on our experience during the event, I would not recommend this hotel for special occasions or fine dining. It simply didn’t live up to the standards that a five-star hotel should meet.

Our stay was excellent overall. The check-in and check-out process was very smooth—check-in was completed within 5 minutes, and we were given our room by 12:15 PM, well ahead of the standard 2:00 PM check-in time, which was a pleasant surprise. The infinity pool offered a stunning view and was one of the highlights of our stay. However, the view from our Royal Premium room was a bit underwhelming and could be improved. The buffet breakfast and dinner had sufficient variety, though not as extensive as some other 5-star hotels we've stayed at. That said, the quality of food was good, and the room service was impressively fast. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider returning

Incredible attention to detail and wonderful stay. This is our second visit here after having visited last year and this time we came with our one year old baby. The food, service, rooms, facilities, pool, houseboat ride was all excellent. The exceptional service from Binoy was outstanding. Everyone wanted to play with our baby but it he made our experience so comfortable that we were surprised with a birthday cake for her and he even took her off for a ride in the high chair around the food stations and she even slept on him whilst we ate. He really made sure she was looked after (which for us as first time parents we were beyond grateful). His attention to detail and to our needs really set the bar for what exceptional customer service looks like. He is an incredible asset to the team and we really loved our stay. Thank you Binoy and to the staff who really made our stay so special.
