We enjoy going for staycays every month to have a change in environment and have stayed at most of the major 4 and 5 star hotels in Singapore. Westin is one of the best ones so far. LOCATION: Westin stands out for many reasons. The hotel is across the road from Thomson-East Coast Line, which brings you straight to Orchard. CLEAR ORGANISATION: The check-in was one of the fastest even though we came during the specified check-in time. Usually, at other hotels, there would be a long queue. Sometimes the queues are in a mess and not clearly demarcated. That’s not the case here. The cue poles are on-point - enough to mark out the queue line without making the reception area look cluttered. OUTSTANDING STAFF: The duty manager who was processing our check-in, Haziq, was incredible fast, which might explain the lack of a queue; he’s so efficient! He had a warm smile and took time to patiently explain the facilities available. He even noted that we are Marriot Bonvoy members and welcomed us back with sincerity. We are the most basic members as we don’t stay at Marriot hotels as much as Accor and I Prefer, but Haziq made us feel like VIPs. I would come back just for that. CLEAN, COMFY ROOMS: We love the spacious room, which had an amazing view of the harbor. You can tell a lot of care was taken to keep the glass windows clean. The pillows were not too soft and the bed was comfortable. I love the fact that they had a duvet and another layer of linen under, which cater to guests with different preferences. The beautiful view extended to the bathroom, and the bathtub was a totally luxury. They even provided bathsalts! Some minor issues would be the lights - the one above the study desk kept flickering and the make-up mirror LED light was not working. It was also quite noisy as our neighboring occupants kept talking at the corridor, opening and slamming their doors. We would also prefer a bit more space in the fridge to store more desserts. All in all, we would return. We don’t mind working towards for a higher status for Marriot Bonvoy too.
Great hotel with helpful concierge, friendly reception, nice facilities and comfortable room. The view from the 43rd floor was phenomenal. We only stayed 1 night as we have connecting flights and the hotel staff upgraded me to a corner room with 270 degree city view. The room was very spacious and clean, beds and pillows are also very comfortable.
I visited Seasonal Tastes with my family for dinner and overall, the food variety was lovely, especially the dessert station. However, what stood out to me the most wasn’t the food, but how overwhelmed the dessert counter staff was. There was just one young staff member managing the entire dessert station alone — serving ice cream, operating the chocolate wheel (melting and spreading chocolate on waffles), cutting bread, topping up cakes, pastries, gluten-free options, everything. As a mother and customer, it was honestly upsetting to watch. I even asked the staff how he was managing it all alone. This is not just tiring, it’s unreasonable. A hotel of this standard should not be putting such pressure on one person. It affects not only the staff’s well-being but also the guest experience. I really hope management reconsiders their staffing situation.
